April 2007Whose Side Are You On?RAC, April 14th, 2007While not at all a new figure, it's more significant now than when it was molded. Iron Man is everywhere now- his own book, pretty much anything that says "Avengers" on it, and guest spots in damn near everything else. Opinions vary wildly on who is "right" in the Civil War event, and if Tony Stark's actions are even in character. I believe him to be in character, as he has a history of pursuing a goal relentlessly without cluing his friends and allies in as to what's really going on or his true motivations. Having read up on most of the New Avengers run, I now believe this to be the case, and for better or worse, this is the same Iron Man we've always known. Like that First Appearance Iron Man in the group shot? Well, US toy fans are in luck: Kay Bee toys has clearanced most of the Toy Biz Marvel figure stock to $5 a figure. Mostly what's been seen so far are the Mojo and M.O.D.O.K. series, and the X-Men "Classics" line. But hey, that means build-a-figures of those two characters are now $30 instead of $48-60. It's an improvement! Next up we move to Hasbro news: want to tell them how they should be handling the Marvel properties? Or Transformers? Or Star Wars or GI Joe? Go ahead and tell them! They want to know what we all think as collectors, and I gladly gave them a piece of my mind in a most friendly and polite manner. So our Second Anniversary Celebration wasn't quite the blowout we'd envisioned. So instead we're saving up something neat for our next major milestone. What would that be? Here's a hint: Modern Armor Iron Man is the ninety-eighth complete review we've posted since It Figures! began. Check back soon for #99! Diamond is a US Gundam Fan's Best FriendRAC, April 19th, 2007Well, that's probably overstating it, but Gundam Board in Action!! member Seraphim has made it known that this month's Previews features four early Gundam SEED: Destiny figures for $9.99 each, and better still the MAN-08 Elmeth for a mere $27.99! As before, these are all really excellent prices, and this time we have plenty of advance warning for the May 12th cutoff date for orders. For those who'd like a closer look at what Diamond is offering this month, I recomment the .txt file version of this month's long order form.Online listings for the previous MSiA featured in Previews have been few and far between so far, so find your local comic shop and place a preorder with them! |
