Second Anniversary Celebration!

Timing's a touch off, but...

ExVee - March 9, 2007

Though life is certainly taking up a good bit of time these days, I haven't forgotten that the site is currently celebrating its second anniversary. For two years now we've been bringing you the best possible reviews and galleries of a variety of toys we can. I never would have made it this far without my partners, RAC and Magnus. And certainly none of us would be here now if not for all of you, our faithful audience who just keep coming back for more. It should also not be forgotten all of our freinds out there who've so kindly thrown us a link every now and then. There's too many to name individually, but you guys all know who you are, so a big thanks from all of us! We hope to have an extra special event a little later this month to commemorate our second anniversary, more details of which are to follow. But right now we're still in our buildup, so here's the next step along the way: A brand new review of Classics Ramjet. Though I wish not to make any specific promises that I may not be able to keep, time permitting I'll hopefully have a new review coming up soon for everybody, so keep checking back. Let's go for Year Three!

Landmarks and Glad Tidings

RAC, 03/09/2007

Two years amounts to about 1/14th of my life, currently. As I probably said last year about this time, it doesn't feel like that long of a time. But it's the longest I've ever gone on a project like this without burning out horribly or being distracted by something shiny and moving on to something else. Being invested in the work is part of that, but it's the company above all. ExVee and Magnus are both great people to work with, great reviewers, and great people to know.

It's fun work too. And I even know for a fact that I've managed to influence at least a few peoples' toy-buying habits- over a year and a half ago someone emailed me to ask my opinions on four MSiA, and after reading my reviews and listening to my comments picked the one I personally liked the least. Which is great- it means that despite my feelings about the toy I presented a clear enough picture of that figure for the person to know that it was exactly what they were looking for. That's a great feeling!

So to everybody who works on, reads, links, or otherwise occupies their time with our site and hard work: Thank You! You'll never get rid of us now.

No review from me today, so instead I bring good news and some light editorializing: Hasbro's version of Marvel Legends is in full swing, and they're showing how they intend to address the question of variants. At least in part- there still seem to be a few old-fashioned shortpacked variants planned for upcoming assortments. Personally, I could do without those. Some seem to take offense at the idea of store exclusives, as access to specific chains is difficult or impossible for them. I can sympathize, to a point, but unless I timed my visits to stores perfectly I never even saw most of the more desirable ToyBiz Marvel Legends on shelves at all, let alone variants. I've resorted to eBay or harrassing poor ExVee into being my personal shopper for all but the most pegwarming of Legends.

If you want Diamond Form Emma Frost, ToysRUs is getting her by the case, and you can order online and pay through the ubiquitous PayPal. You'd probably wind up paying about $15 per figure or less depending on the shipping you choose and your location. Unless you rolled a 20 on your Search check, metaphorically speaking, you could expect to pay as much as double, or more, for a ToyBiz variant. I call this progress.

Seems like the clear plastic helps obscure the iffy face sculpt, too!
