April 2006Not a hoax! Not an Imaginary Story!RAC, 04/01/2006Speaking as an exceedingly credulous person myself, it's probably best to cease any suspension of disbelief you may have going until Sunday at the earliest. For our part though, everything you'll read in today's article is entirely true. Hasbro took this figure's body as inspiration and created an industry, whether they knew it at the time or not. Even if they did, little did they realize, I'm sure, that grown men and women would devote time to collecting, trading, and (over)analyzing their handiwork and that of their colleagues and competitors over forty years later. That kind of thing tends to come as a surprise. For those who come here looking for reviews of MSiA and other descendants of today's subject, I apologize for my lack of speed in reviewing, which has only grown worse lately. Enough to say that I have astonishingly sound reasons for this. Updates won't stop- they'll just continue to be excruciatingly slow on my part for a while now. Even so, the stuff I'm doing won't slow ExVee down, so we're still good. It's my hope to be back soon with a review of the EMiA Gundam, but "soon" is relative, of course. Check back with us soon! Of tiny Gundams and G-BoxesExVee, 4/29/2006Perhaps the entire month of no update was my April Fool's joke to compliment RAC's. Or maybe I've just been very lazy. Either way...Back in December, the HCM-Pro series saw its first release that was a must have for me, the Gundam Mk II Complete Set G-Box, featuring the first figure level release of the Flying Armor, and the first not-fragile representation of the G-Defenser, following the Gundam FIX Figuration Super Gundam. As noted in the review, the Super Gundam has always been of particular interest to me, so I was willing to pay something of a premium to get this set, and that was only helped by the inclusion of the Flying Armor, which I've also been wanting in figure form for a good while. On the subject of figured Flying Armor, the next months of MSiA releases have become known and look quite promising. After next month's BuCUE and June's EMIA Justice, July will feature the LaGOWE, as well as the third installment of the UC Arms series, with the theme "Anaheim Electronics Weaponry." Each case will include two of the following: Gundam Mk II beam rifle, Hyaku Shiki beam rifle, Clay Bazooka, GP01 beam rifle, GP-series experimental long range rifle, and 0083 GM machinegun. August has the Gates Kappa recolor of the Baund Doc, the Providence, and EMIA Gundam Mk II + Flying Armor, and September continues the renewed attention to Zeta Gundam, with the long overdue EMIA Hyaku Shiki, and Haman Karn's Gaza-C. I'm extremely pleased with what's on schedule for September, though much of these release lists are excellent and have become highly anticipated releases. The only things that will make the year of MSiA even better will be if we find out that october, November and December contain M1 Astray, regular colors Gaza-C, CGUE (with Guul), Nemo, and Gaplant. But there's no way that would happen. ...right? Check us out in May - we'll have a review of the EMIA Freedom early in the month, and ...hopefully something else. |
